Emerging Strategy in Human Resource Management
Emerging Strategy in Human Resource Management
Definition of HRM
Earlier employees in an organization were defined as a “cost” and managing employees described as Personal Management. Over the past two decades’ the employees in an organization considered as “Resource” not as a cost. Human Resources are considered as another capital in an organization because Human resources can be hired, trained and developed, improved and motivated in an appropriate manner. Therefore, Human Resource Management defined as maximizing the employees’ performance to achieve the Organizational vision and goals by rewarding employees to achieve their own career aspects. “Traditional HRM focus is giving way to a new HR paradigm that is tangibly linked to organizational performance and realization of its strategic goals” (Saini, 2015).
Issues in HRM in an Organization
Human Resource practical issues in an Organization classified under two types, namely Internal Issues and External issues. Internal Issues occur within the Human Resource Division. In most organizations, Human Resource Management Divisions operate with inadequate staff to address the organization’s employees’ issues. This may negatively affect the other employees in the organization, such as delays in receiving feedback, lack of training & development and motivation process, etc. External issues are arising between the Human Resource Division and other Employees in the organization. Due to the External issues, such as delays in responding leads to employee dissatisfaction about the HRM division. Most of the HRM suggestions mismatch with the employee requirements and the evaluation is based on the Head of Department’s views and not the Employee’s performance. The evaluation and decision-making process is centralized to the Top Management.
Emerging Strategy in HRM
Therefore, managing Human Resource in an organization should move to a cloud-based HRM system by maintaining a Digital Strategy that can improve efficiency. “Understanding trends and indicators emerging today helps us to proactively think about potential future developments and positions us to constructively shape them” (Wendy EA Ruona, Susan A Lynham, Thomas J Chermack, 2003). The Digital Strategy allows employees to apply for leave, claim overtime, check salary details, personal details, process multiple claims and incentives online in real time. Also, this strategy will help employees to have a direct complaining system, evaluation process, and a rewarding system. (Figure-01) Recognizing and rewarding employees for exceptional works such as “Employee of the Year” and “Best Service Provider” awards etc. can be used to motivate employees of the organization. Welcome to the New Era of Human Resource Management Sector.

My personal view on this is that issues face by HRM is More broder topic which can't be written on 350 word document. You have done it perfectly throught addressing few most important issues and solution for those issue.
Thank you very much for your comment Rashid, Yes you are correct Rashid we all are personally facing the same problem as employees, lack of communication drives employee dissatisfaction. So I thought of express my view.
DeleteChayathri excellent article but bow the digital strategy will work for larg manufacturering company the employees more that 1000 i need discuss more with dr razi any way thanks gave us nice information
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot, Irshad. According to my knowledge, large manufacturing companies suit a cloud-based HRM system very well because a large number of employees have different requirements, according to their requirements HRM staff cannot respond each and everyone without any delay. so yes I think this will be the solution.
DeleteChayathri, I appreciate your innovative thinking to introduced cloud to carryout HR operations, true this will allow increase productivity in an organisation but, this may also creator barrier for inter personnel relationship with other departments due to online activities and will reduced personal meetings where that is an important part of a HR staff.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your appreciation Nazeer. Actually, this cloud-based system can improve good communication and interpersonal relationship between HRM and all the employees. Because of this system, HRM staff can respond directly to the employee as well as to the top management without any delay. Most of the time manually takes a long time to deliver the request or requirement of the employee to the top management. At that point, employee dissatisfaction of the organization may increase. So my suggestion is introducing this type of system allows employees to get to know each and every employee in the organization and it can build up a good interpersonal relationship.
DeleteChayatri, Nice idea of thinking an organization should move to a cloud-based HRM system, I believe the world is already working on this. Sooner or later will see this will apply to our organizations. But any of us haven't thought anything other than HRM strategies improvements. Thanks for letting us know how to think out of the box. A great amount of research. keep it up.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for your comment Madhawa. Your comment encourages me to think differently. In the 21st century, globalization helps us to improve our social connections. Yes, I think maybe in the world they are using this and sooner hope to get engage cloud-based systems in our organizations as well.

Hi Nimmitha. Thank you for your comment. Eventually, the challenge of the HRM sector is lack of communication. According to my view, the cloud-based working system will be the solution for those issues effectively.
DeleteGood Chayathri. You have explained well about the Modern HRM concept. We are in Digitalized culture and most of organizations are trying to apply artificial intelligent. HRM also should go beyond the boundaries for the minimize the gap between HRM department and the employees.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much Ruwan. Yes, Ruwan this is what I want to prove, HRM Division and other employees gap increasing day by day because of inadequate staff, etc. Most of the time reason for the employee dissatisfaction may cause to leave their jobs. As a strategy, digitalized culture can reduce the gap. And which helps to keep the most valuable resource in an organization.
DeleteGood article, well organized and explained. you have mentioned that how the latest technology can be used in HRM by introducing cloud based HRM systems.

Thank you Niyomal. I wanted to explain simply what is the main capital in an organization and how it can be the influence to the organization profit, what is the issues in between HRM and other employees and strategy for minimizing the gap.
DeleteVery good article of cloud based HRM. I also agree with you that industry should upgrade with this new trend of HRM
ReplyDeleteThank you, Apsara. We must upgrade our organizations according to the global standards. Then only we can face global competition.
DeleteWith the influence of digitization HRM, duties of an Human Resource manager and also life of an employee will be some what easy, e.g. an employee can check their salary details from anywhere, and for this involvement of human resource manager is next to nothing. So the duties of a human resource manger is less at the same time life of the employee is easy.
ReplyDeleteWill this leads to the increase the gap between the human resource mangers and the employees? just an idea and its open for discussion....
Shardha, Actually No. Because of this cloud-based system is for reducing delays in responding to employee requirements. For example, This can individually evaluate employees and rewarding them. If the employee has any doubt they can get clarification from the HR Manager directly. This system is not a one-way communication, it can define as a two-way communication system. If the employee or HRM Manager wants to meet face to face they can use video conferencing as well. Otherwise, the employee or HR Manager can make an appointment to meet easily through this system. The cloud-based system can create a worker-friendly environment for the employees. This is not a system for reducing HRM division works, but this system for improving the effectiveness and efficiency of HRM works. in this article focusing on the main resource of an organization are "Employees".
DeleteA majority of the employees are dissatisfied with the HR personnel mainly due to lack of prompt feedback. I believe this digital strategy will fill such gaps and enhance two way communication between the two parties. with recent technological advancements this new strategy in HRM will definitely see a new light in organizations.
ReplyDeleteExactly Sanjeewani, the digital strategy allows employees to enhance good relationship with the management.
DeleteChayathri, Really this is a great article. It seems that the article is well organized and the content is rich. And I too agree with you that traditional HR systems should be digitized.
